Lao, Vietnamese leaders highly value ties

Visiting Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Vietnamese leaders have said they highly value the traditional friendly relations, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The Lao Premier and his delegation visited Hanoi, Vietnam, from September 11-13 to attend the 27th World Economic Forum (27th WEF) on Asean.
Prime Minister Thongloun, who is a member of the Politburo of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, on September 13 called on the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trọng.

Welcoming the Lao premier, General Secretary Trọng said he highly valued the Lao prime minister and his delegation’s attendance at the 27th WEF and their working visit to Vietnam, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The visit contributes to strengthening the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, states and peoples.
For his part, Mr Thongloun expressed heartfelt thanks to Mr Trong for receiving him and his delegation.
Through the Vietnamese leader, Mr Thongloun expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Party, state and people of Vietnam for providing relief assistance to Lao people impacted by the recent flood caused by the fracture of a dam in Attapeu province.  
Mr Thongloun later held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The Lao premier congratulated Vietnam on successfully hosting the 27th WEF, saying the event has lifted the profile of Vietnam in the regional and international arenas.
Mr Thongloun said he highly appreciated Premier Phuc, the Party and State of Vietnam for extending invaluable support and assistance for the socio-economic development of Laos.
He committed to work with Mr Phuc to push for the realisation of the cooperation agreements reached by both sides.
The premier, on behalf of the Party, government and people of Laos, expressed gratitude to the Party, government and people of Vietnam for sharing sympathy with, providing relief supplies and sending medical and rescue teams to help the rescue and recovery mission during the July flood in Attapeu province.
Mr Thongloun, on behalf of the Party, government and people of Laos, also expressed sympathy over the recent flooding that lashed northern provinces of Vietnam.
