Tianjin cruise ship port attracts more passengers

Tianjin province, China : Traveller numbers have increased tenfold at the Tianjin International Cruise Home Port in the Chinese province of the same name in the six years since welcoming its first passengers.

Three cruises can now berth at the Home Port simultaneously.

Cruise ship berthed at the Tianjin International Cruise Home Port in Tianjin province can welcome almost 5,000 passengers on board.

The passenger port has boosted the steady development of cruise tourism in north China, Tianjin International Cruise Home Port General Manager Mr Zhang Zhen, told journalists from home and abroad.

“The past few years we have seen a rise in cruises berthed at the Home Port.

“About 70,000 passengers travelled in 2010, but last year that number was around 700,000 people,” he said.

Their next stop was to visit Tianjin Port at the Dongjiang Bonded Port Area, the Administrative Approval Centre of Tianjin FTZ's Business district to get a glimpse of the civil construction and reform and opening-up in Tianjin.

They also interviewed two companies engaged in the building of Belt and Road related projects and paid attention to the accounts about starting a business between China and overseas.

Tianjin Port Pacific International Container Terminal is located at the southern tip of Tianjin East Port. Commissioned in 2007, the Container Terminal is the first development project and a symbolic project of the region.

With a total investment of about 6.6 billion Yuan, it was jointly established by Tianjin Port Co., LTD and Singapore's PSA (PSA).

It has a frontage of about 2,300 metres, a land width of about 1km, reserved water depth of 18 metres and designated annual throughput capacity of 4 million TEUs.

Applying a Chinese-developed terminal operating system, the terminal is the first one in the world's largest country to maintain real-time location and position of all operational elements.

The advanced operation has improved the efficiency significantly.

To the present, Pacific International Container Terminal has established sound relationships with dozens of shipping companies.

It welcomes more than 20 shipping lines such as 2 M Alliance's Mediterranean Line, Europe Line, East America Line, West America Line, Northern Europe Line, and the Alliance's Europe Line, all of which are engaged in foreign trade. Following the port the reporters visited the Administrative Service Centre of central business district of Tianjin FTZ where the “speed of F TZ” was demonstrated vividly. The Administrative Service Centre is inside the CSIC B uilding at Xiangluo Bay.

Enterprises and individuals have access to professional services provided by over 30 stuff, resident personnel from government agencies including market supervision, tax bureau, customs, inspection and quarantine, maritime affairs, foreign exchange and public security, and experts in notarisation, trademark, finance and legal matters.
