Top leader welcomes Lao minister of public security

HANOI (Vietnam News, ANN) -- Party General Secretary, President Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday for Lao Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamfong.
Minister Vilay Lakhamfong congratulated Vietnam on its important achievements in recent times and expressed his delight at the development of the Laos-Vietnam solidarity, which has brought about practical benefits for both peoples.
Relaying to the host details of Laos’ recent situation, national security and the outcomes of talks between the two public security ministries, he said the Lao ministry would co-ordinate closely with the Vietnamese side to carry out signed cooperation agreements.
Hailing the significance of the visit by the newly accredited Lao Minister of Public Security, the Vietnamese Party and State leader said the Lao ministry has contributed to the development of the Vietnam-Laos relationship.
Speaking on the outcomes of the talks, as well as on cooperation between the two ministries, he said their relationship deserved to be a pillar of the two countries’ ties.
He asked both sides to maintain close coordination in protecting national security and maintaining social order. He also requested they step up information exchanges and support each other at regional and international forums on crime prevention and control, especially for cross-border crimes.
