Mister International Laos contest

Rap concert by Canadian singer

Be entertained by Webster, a Canadian rap artist who will sing in French and English. He has been invited by the Canadian Embassy to perform his rap and hip hop music to mark Francophonie Fortnight, with events taking place from March 12-27. The concert is organised by the Embassy and the French Institute. The performance will last about one hour and entrance is free.

Book festival

Come along to this event featuring a wide variety of Lao and foreign books for browsing and sale at more than 200 booths, together with other activities. Entrance is free.

Free freight and logistics training programmes

Those working or learning in the field of transport, energy and environment, ports, logistics associations or other related sectors are invited to apply for green freight and logistics training programmes. Full scholarships will be provided to a total of 30 participants (six each from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand). The scholarship covers travel, accommodation, meals and a daily subsistence allowance. The programme is organised by the Mekong Institute, with the support of the Republic of Korea through the Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund. Hi 5 Youth Football League

Hi 5 Football Field in partnership with the Lao Football Federation, TCFC and Lob Stadium are organising an U-10 and U-13 youth league from March 2 to April 27. Eight teams each for a total of 16 teams. Various Vientiane clubs will participate in the fun competition which values sportsmanship, friendship and the spirit of football. Family friendly with game booths for entertainment, food, and activities for children.

Scholarships for study in India

The Embassy of India is offering scholarships for undergraduate, postgraduate courses and doctoral studies in the fields of IT, vocational training, business management, economics, archaeology, architecture, history, and other areas. Applicants are required to have a good knowledge of English. Those who have previously applied for any scholarship provided by the government of India are not eligible. Also on offer are 2 slots for Buddhist studies under a cultural exchange programme for the year 2019-2020.

Visit Tadxon waterfall for the Ancestor Festival

Tadxon waterfall is welcoming those who want some fun after giving alms at temples to celebrate the Ancestor Festival on September 24.
Visitors will be served free grilled chicken at picnic huts, made from chickens raised at the site. Activities include forest walks and a tour of the Chao Souphanouvong Cave, where President Souphanouvong and other Lao leaders took refuge after escaping from Phonkheng jail in 1959 during the Indochina war. The site has 111 huts, 40 guesthouse rooms, and 11 elephants providing rides. There is also a 3,700 metre cable car ride that takes visitors to a rocky hilltop.

Women’s art exhibition

Don’t miss this exhibition showcasing more than 200 pieces of art including paintings, drawings, monoprints, pottery and carvings by members of the Women’s Union of the National Institute of Fine Arts. TDR postgraduate scholarship

The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for a TDR Postgraduate Scholarship in the International Master Programme in Public Health, with a focus on Implementation Research for the 2019-2020 academic year. The training will be focused on courses relevant to a career in implementation research on infectious diseases of poverty. Only applicants from low- and middle-income countries in the WHO South-East Asia and Western Pacific regions are eligible.
