Sangsinxay festival

The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and Ministry of Education and Sports invites everyone to the Sangsinxay festival, featuring a play with more than 200 actors. The festival will also include painting and poem reading contests and displays of books and other products. The event is organised by the Association for

Promotion and Preservation of Art and Literature.

Photo exhibition

‘Hmong: a view from within’ displays 43 photos taken by 22 young photographers from @ My Library in Luang Prabang. This is Laos as seen through their own eyes, with the photos featuring the culture and traditions of the

Hmong people, mainly in the north of Laos.

Literary, modelling classes

Courses available in poetry and short story writing and playing the khaen. There is also a modelling course, for which applicants must be aged 15-25. Females must be at least 160 cm tall and males 165 cm.

Business plan contest

The Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute invites all interested entrepreneurs to submit a business plan. The business plan and its presentation must be in English. The winner will receive US$5,000 in cash.

Film makers from (or residing in) the five Mekong countries
Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam are invited to submit short films of up to 6 minutes on the illegal wildlife trade.. The best films and winners will receive US$5000 in cash and will be invited to present their films at the London Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade in October this year and at the Luang Prabang Film Festival in December.
