Experience of Korean university camp

3rd or 4th year undergraduate students from Asean countries majoring in Computer Science or closely related areas are invited to apply for the Experience KAIST Camp. The selected 20-30 applicants will visit KAIST University in Republic of Korea from January 8-11 next year. The university will support round-trip airfares, accommodation, meals and local excursions.

Lao-Swiss musical, cultural performance

Everyone is invited to experience a “Musical Fusion of Swiss and Lao Culture” featuring performances by Swiss artist – Eliana Burki Swiss Alphorn and Lao artists – Odia and Sin. The event will also feature a performance by Fanglao Dance Company. Entry is free.

Cycling competition

Cyclists are invited to join the 2018 Sports & Bike Fair Cycling Competition. Boat racing festivals

Featuring boat races, street fairs, and stage performances.   
When and Where: - Hadxaifong district, Vientiane. Street fair from September 14-23, with the boat races on September 23 on the Mekong River. Activities will centre on Inpaeng Culture Park and Thadeua Road. In Saravan province, the festival will take place on September 24 and 25 in the provincial capital.

Indonesian concert

The Embassy of Indonesia is staging a free concert featuring a mix of traditional and modern music by singers and dancers from Laos and Indonesia. An orchestra will play and there will be a performance of IndonesianPanjaSilat dancing.

Young AseanLeaders programme

The National University of Malaysia and CIMB are offering scholarships for the CIMB Young Asean Leaders programme for undergraduate students of Asean nationalities, aged 18 to 30 with a minimum CGPA/CQPI of 3.0 or equivalent. You must be enrolled in an Asean university and able to fluently communicate in English, written and spoken.The theme for this year is Resilience and Innovation towards a Green, Prosperous Lifestyle: Smart City. The event will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 19-24.Participants are expected to work in groups to produce a video on this theme.

Circus to celebrate Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival 2018

China Cultural Centre in Laos will present an incredible circus to celebrate the annual Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. The performance “Ode to the Moon” - “Beautiful China Favourite Guangxi” by a circus troupe of 24 from Guangxi, China will feature a spectacular and memorable show for the audience.
The Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the reunion of family and loved ones falling on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese Lunar calendar when the moon is its fullest and brightest.

Charity run

South to North charity run (Attapeu to Phongsaly) is the biggest feat ever to be pursued in Laos. A group of dedicated and concerned runners are to take an exciting journey of 1,569 km within 16 days to raise funds in support of the provincial hospital in Attapeu and Luang Prabang Children’s Hospital. Be a part of history by cheering and supporting this fundraising project.

Visit Tadxon waterfall for the Ancestor Festival

Tadxon waterfall is welcoming those who want some fun after giving alms at temples to celebrate the Ancestor Festival on September 24.
Visitors will be served free grilled chicken at picnic huts, made from chickens raised at the site. Activities include forest walks and a tour of the Chao Souphanouvong Cave, where President Souphanouvong and other Lao leaders took refuge after escaping from Phonkheng jail in 1959 during the Indochina war. The site has 111 huts, 40 guesthouse rooms, and 11 elephants providing rides. There is also a 3,700 metre cable car ride that takes visitors to a rocky hilltop.

Japanese peace exhibition

The Laos-Japan Institute at the National University of Laos invites you to make paper cranes, known as orizuru, as a gesture of peace. Japan and Laos have been affected by different kinds of bombs, but the desire for a peaceful world is the same regardless of nationality. This kind of event has been organised by JICA volunteers in about 60 countries. This event is taking place in Laos for the first time following a suggestion by a JICA volunteer from Hiroshima.

Special Arts Festival

This festival is in support of disabled people and aims to raise their profile through a celebration of the arts to mark Lao National Disability Day. Volunteers needed for telephone helpline

People who are good listeners and can spend at least a few hours a month taking calls, and speak Lao and/or English, are invited to apply to the volunteer mental and emotional support helpline project “Reach Out Laos” or in Lao (Popchai).
The project is funded by the British Embassy and will train Lao and English-speaking volunteers to handle calls and provide a listening service to those in need of support.
This free and confidential service will be available for both expatriate and Lao nationals.
