Hongsa Power provides 40 scholarships for Xayaboury schoolchildren
The Hongsa Power Co., Ltd. has provided 40 scholarships worth 120 million kip for secondary school students in Xayaboury province, to support their studies over the course of this academic year.
Thirty scholarships worth a total of 90 million kip will go to six schools in Hongsa district, eight scholarships worth 24 million kip will be allocated to five schools in Ngeun district, and two scholarships worth a total of 6 million kip will go to a school in Xienghon district, according to a press release from Hongsa Power.

A ceremony to hand over the scholarships in Xayaboury province last week was attended by the Managing Director of Hongsa Power Co., Ltd., Mr Kathayuth Chupoon, Deputy Governor of Hongsa district, Ms Daovin Latsakith, Director of the Hongsa Education and Sports Office, Mr Pien Chinda, teachers and students.
The scholarships will be given to outstanding students at the selected schools.
The company has been contributing to education development in Xienghon, Hongsa and Ngeun districts since 2011 by providing scholarships for schoolchildren.
Last year, the company also gave 40 scholarships worth 120 million kip for secondary school students in these districts.
Hongsa Power also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Polytechnic College in Vientiane for education development through technical training and practical courses.
The company’s support for education aims to contribute to development in the field by improving standards and upgrading vocational training courses so they better meet the needs of the job market.
The initiative also enables students to take practical courses with the company so they can gain useful experience.
Through the scholarships it provides, Hongsa Power is supporting the country’s socio-economic and educational development.
