PM instructs steel company to bolster production
Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has advised the Vientiane Steel Industry Co., Ltd. (VSI) to continue the production of high-quality goods to meet the country’s growing needs.
Mr Thongloun gave the advice when he and other ministers visited the company in Xiengkhuan village, Hadxaifong district, on Friday, where he was welcomed by managers and staff. The company’s products were assisting the development process and were in great demand because of the surge in construction of roads, railways and buildings, he said.
“This steel factory makes an important contribution to the country’s development. By supplying locally-made steel products it reduces the need for imported goods,” he added.
The prime minister congratulated the company on its high-volume output and urged managers to ensure its standards were maintained, while also providing more jobs for local people.
The Vientiane Steel Industry Co., Ltd. was established in 1994 and gained ISO 9001 certification in 2015. Its factory produces a wide range of items with an annual production capacity of 350,000 tonnes.
On the same day, Prime Minister Thongloun and ministers visited the Tokyo Coil Engineering (Lao) Co., Ltd. in Nahai village, Hadxaifong district, to observe the production of camera components for export. The company was established in 1999 to manufacture components such as trigger coil transformers for use in cameras.
