President advises on development in Naxaithong

President Bounnhang Vorachit has advised authorities in Vientiane’s Naxaithong district to provide officials with more in-depth political ideology education as well as to put a stop to undesirable social conduct.
Mr Bounnhang stressed these points when meeting with authorities on Friday during a visit to the district to learn about developments there.
According to a report provided by the district Governor, Mr Vilasak Nammounty, Naxaithong’s GDP was worth about 1.3 trillion kip and income per capita was 15 million kip in 2017-2018.

The amount of revenue sourced by the district was about 15 billion kip, totalling 94.3 percent of the target figure.
“We are strengthening the production of good quality crops with a focus on clean food production using new techniques and the creation of model farming families,” the district governor was quoted by the Vientiane Mai newspaper as saying.
Naxaithong has 212 model farming families and seven collective farming groups. Of its 257 livestock farms, 90 raise pigs, 94 produce chicken eggs, 25 raise chickens for their meat, 23 produce duck eggs, 12 raise cattle and five farms raise goats. These supply about 14,200 tonnes per year.
About 80 percent of farming in the district employs machinery instead of traditional methods.
Addressing district leaders and officials, President Bounnhang praised the achievements of district authorities and local people towards development.
He advised the authorities to continue to provide more in the way of political ideology education for core officials, saying this was crucial for development.
The president also spoke out against the rising tide of anti-social activities, such as drug abuse, road accidents, and theft.
He also said it was important to strengthen grassroots development, deepen the political system, and enhance commercial production, especially clean agriculture. He advised grassroots communities to adopt new techniques to increase productivity and produce better quality goods, as well as advocating easier access to finance for small and medium enterprises.
Concerning preparations for Party meetings at the three administrative levels, President Bounnhang said political reports should not be exaggerated but should reflect actual achievements and the facts, as well as detailing future plans.
He also pushed for the continued development of the Huayxon-Huaysua Agriculture Development and Service Project as an agri-tourism destination.
Other topics discussed included the construction of a 24-kilometre embankment along the Nam Ngum river in Naxaithong and Xaythany districts, at a cost of 19 billion kip, the Naxaithong district economic office building project, and encroachment into protected area such as marshes, watersheds, and the Phou Phanang Protected Area.
He also instructed the related sectors to coordinate with Vientiane authorities when submitting issues to the Politburo for guidance so that they could be investigated in the appropriate way.
