On the same day, the Red Cross delivered supplies to 210 people in Xaysettha district, Attapeu province, giving them food, drinking water and medicines worth more than 52 million kip, financed by private companies.
The Red Cross had previously delivered educational supplies, food and drinking water worth more than 200 million kip to students in Attapeu province and to households in Saravan and Champassak provinces who suffered in the floods, paid for by the Singapore Red Cross and private companies.
Tropical storms passed over central and southern Laos at the end of August and the beginning of September, bringing torrential rain that damaged houses, roads and bridges, rice fields, fishponds, temples and schools.
Khammuan, Savannakhet, Attapeu, Saravan, Champassak and Xekong provinces were the worst affected.
