Lao leaders offer condolences on passing of Thai Princess

Lao leaders extended their deepest condolences on the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavadi, joining the Thai people in mourning the loss of a respected member of the Royal Family.
President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane conveyed separate messages of condolence to the Thai Royal Family, Government and people.
In a letter addressed to His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn, President Thongloun Sisoulith said he was deeply moved and profoundly saddened by the sorrowful news.
He described Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha as a person of noble spirit, great compassion, and outstanding ability who devoted her life to advancing the quality of life of the Thai people, promoting justice in society, and contributing to foreign affairs.
The President also noted that Her Royal Highness played an important role in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Laos and Thailand, helping to bring the two countries even closer together.
“The passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha is not only a tremendous loss and a source of profound grief for Your Majesty, the Royal Family, and all the people of Thailand, but also the loss of a dear friend to the people of Laos,” President Thongloun wrote.
On behalf of the Lao people and in his personal capacity, the President expressed heartfelt sympathy to His Majesty, the Royal Family, and the Thai people during this time of mourning.
Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane also sent messages of condolence to their Thai counterparts, Anutin Charnvirakul and Sihasak Phuangketkeow, respectively.
