Laos welcomes Iran-US agreement aimed at ending Middle East conflict: MOFA spokesperson
The Lao People’s Democratic Republic welcomes the agreement reached on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East on 15 June 2026, the spokesperson of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The Lao People’s Democratic Republic commends the significant role played by Pakistan and other countries in mediating the resolution of the conflict and sincerely hopes that the MoU will serve as a significant foundation for further negotiations in order to bring sustainable peace and stability to the peoples in the Middle East.
Iran and the US reached an understanding over the weekend on ending the conflict in West Asia and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement is set to be formally signed in the Swiss city of Geneva on Friday.
