From training to the workplace: 17 Vilabouly apprentices complete LXML-supported programme

Seventeen apprentices from Vilabouly district of Savannakhet province have successfully completed a three-year technical apprenticeship programme supported by Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML), marking an important step in their transition from formal training to employment with the company’s maintenance team.
The graduates were recognised at a ceremony held at the Lao-German Technical College, Vientiane, on August 21. They began their studies in the 2023-2024 academic year and completed the programme in the 2025-2026 academic year.
The graduating group comprised two Fixed Plant Electrical Apprentices, two Instrumentation Apprentices, two Auto and Heavy Equipment Electrical Apprentices, three Fixed Plant Fabrication Apprentices, four Fixed Plant Mechanical Apprentices and four Auto and Heavy Equipment Mechanical Apprentices.

Throughout the programme, the apprentices combined classroom learning with hands-on training at LXML’s Sepon Gold and Copper Mine. This dual approach allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge in a real operational environment, while gaining practical experience in maintenance activities, workplace responsibilities, and technical teamwork.
During their placements at the LXML site, the apprentices demonstrated strong commitment to their training and made valuable contributions to the Maintenance Team. Their practical participation provided an opportunity to learn directly from experienced employees and strengthen the technical capabilities required for their future roles.
LXML invested approximately US$ 155,000 to support the 17 apprentices throughout the three-year programme. The investment covered the training period from the 2023-2024 academic year through the 2025-2026 academic year and formed part of the company’s support for skills and career development among local students from Vilabouly district.
Following the successful completion of the programme, all 17 graduates will join the LXML Maintenance Team, where they will continue developing their technical knowledge, practical experience and careers with the company.
Their graduation represents both an individual achievement and an important transition into the workplace. The programme has equipped the graduates with skills across electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, fabrication, automotive and heavy equipment maintenance disciplines relevant to their assigned roles.
Support for apprentices is continuing. In the 2026-2027 academic year, another 18 apprentices are undertaking the final year of the three-year programme.
LXML congratulates all 17 graduates on completing their studies and recognises the dedication they demonstrated throughout their training, particularly during their on-the-job experience at the Sepon Mine.
The apprenticeship programme reflects LXML’s continuing commitment to work closely with government authorities, local communities and relevant stakeholders to support practical skills development and sustainable employment pathways.
