Lao Travel Platform launched to improve visitor experience
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in collaboration with Unitel Telecom, has launched “Lao Travel – Your Digital Gateway to Laos”, a new website designed to provide travellers with easy access to travel information and other services.
The launch of the website is another step in the government’s ongoing digital transformation of the tourism sector, bringing destinations, travel information, tourism businesses, and essential visitor services together through a single digital platform.
Through the Lao Travel Platform, the government aims to make discovering and experiencing Laos easier and more accessible, while creating new digital opportunities for the country’s tourism industry and supporting its continued growth.
Director General of the Tourism Market Promotion Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ms Manisakone Thammavongxay, said the Lao Travel Platform was developed as a “digital gateway to Laos”.
The website provides users with information about visitor attractions, events, accommodation, restaurants, transport, and other services.
Visitors can use the platform to arrange accommodation, flight tickets, train tickets, bus tickets, car and minibus rentals, buy SIM cards, locate restaurants, and search for other travel-related services.
The launch of the Lao Travel Platform is part of the government’s broader efforts to integrate digital technology into the tourism sector and support the development of a more modern and connected tourism industry.
The platform provides a digital link between the public sector, private businesses, tourism operators, service providers, and travellers, enabling Lao tourism products and services to reach wider domestic and international markets.
For tourism businesses, the platform offers an additional channel to showcase their products and services. For travellers, it provides a more streamlined way to discover and access tourism services, helping create a more convenient and connected travel experience
Director General of the Inspection Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr Khampao Vannavong, said the ministry believes the Lao Travel Platform will play an important role in publicising the country’s tourism destinations and products.
“Beyond serving as a tourism information platform, “Lao Travel – Your Digital Gateway to Laos” represents a further step in building a digital tourism ecosystem in Laos—one that is modern, connected, accessible, and responsive to the needs of today’s travellers,” he said.
The launch ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ms Dalany Phommavongsa; Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Mr Nguyen Minh Tam; and Director General of Unitel Telecom, Ms Nguyen Thi Tam.
