Lao esport players test skills at championship

Men’s and women’s teams from clubs across the country are competing in the Lao Esports Championship 2025, organised by the Lao Esports Federation.
The event, being held at Vientiane Center from October 17 to 19, features the teams competing in various games, including Mobile Legend (Bang Bang), Honour of King, Valorant, efootball (Console and Mobile), Tekken 8, Street Fighter, PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, and Identity V. The total prizes are worth approximately 100 million kip.

This championship aims to develop the skills of young players and their trainers, preparing them for an opportunity to compete in the 12th National Games, which will be hosted in Vientiane from November 15 to 25.
The Lao Esports Federation will select skilled players to represent Laos in international competitions. This includes events such as the MCCM6, which serves as a qualifier for the M7, to be hosted by Indonesia,  the Street Fighter event of Campus Legends in Singapore and other global tournaments next year.
The opening ceremony of the championship was attended by a representative from the Ministry of Education and Sports, Mr Sichanh Chittapanya, the President of the Lao Esports Federation, Mr Jonathan Sirisackda, representatives from various sectors and sponsors,  trainers and players.
Mr Jonathan said this championship not only helps in the development of players and trainers, but also enhances the skills of referees and event organisers, aligning them with international standards. The federation is preparing to host the esports events at the upcoming National Games.
Currently, more than one million people across Laos play esports, with more than 350 actively involved in esports clubs.
The Lao Esports Championship 2025 is supported by Lao Telecommunication Public Company, TPlus, Mmoney X, Lao Brewery Co Ltd (through its energy drink brand), and other sectors.
Lao’s esports team earned a bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia (2023), secured the fourth place at the ASEAN level, won the Mekong River regional championship last year, and placed third in the Team Dota 2 World Championship in 2022.
