Phubia Coffee to brew national pride with 1,999 free cups for Lao National Day

As Laos prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, one much-loved local brand is stepping forward with generosity and national pride. Phubia Coffee, a leading name in Lao-grown coffee, has announced that it will offer 1,999 free cups of coffee to the public as part of its tribute to Lao National Day.
The giveaway will run from 28 November to 2 December 2025 at the Phubia Coffee shop inside the Lao National Culture Hall, a venue where cultural heritage and modern creativity come together. Over the five-day celebration, baristas will serve 400 cups of freshly brewed coffee each day, welcoming residents, students, workers, and both Lao and foreign visitors to enjoy a cup of premium local coffee at no cost.

For Phubia Coffee, this initiative is far more than a promotional campaign. It is a heartfelt gesture of gratitude — a return to the people who have supported the brand from the beginning. The fertile highlands of Phubia, known for their cool climate and rich volcanic soil, have long produced coffee beans full of depth and fragrance. The brand has grown steadily over the years, yet its identity remains deeply rooted in the land and in the farmers who care for it.
The President of Phubia Coffee Sole Co., Ltd, Mrs Sunatta Litpanya, reflects on this journey with pride and humility. Surrounded by the aroma of freshly roasted beans in her café, she speaks with warmth about what this celebration means.
“Phubia Coffee was built from soil, hands, and heart,” she says. “When I started, I never imagined our coffee would one day be recognised nationwide. Offering 1,999 cups for National Day is our way of saying thank you. It may seem small, but it comes from deep pride.”
Her memories stretch back to early mornings in the plantation — picking cherries before sunrise, learning to roast with precision, and quietly dreaming that Lao coffee would someday be appreciated beyond local markets. That dream, she says, is still growing.

“This country has given me everything — education, opportunity, community,” Mrs Sunatta shares. “As Laos celebrates its 50th anniversary, I want to stand as one example of what Lao people can achieve. Every cup we give is a celebration of farmers, culture, and the strength of our nation.”
The free-coffee initiative has already attracted public attention. During National Day, streets glow with flags, music fills city corners, and families gather to celebrate unity and progress. Now, the aroma of free Phubia coffee — grown from Lao soil and shaped by Lao hands — promises to add warmth to that atmosphere.
In preparation for the event, the Phubia Coffee shop will be decorated in a festive blend of contemporary and traditional elements. Bamboo weaving, Lao textile patterns, and photos of coffee-growing villages will create an environment that celebrates heritage while welcoming younger generations. Each morning, baristas will begin serving until the daily quota of 400 cups is reached, encouraging visitors to arrive early and share conversations in a relaxed, celebratory mood.
This event also highlights how far Lao coffee culture has come in recent years. Once regarded as a niche rural crop, coffee has now grown into one of the nation’s most promising agricultural products. Phubia Coffee has contributed to that growth, demonstrating that Lao beans can compete with international flavours — while carrying a distinct identity shaped by mountain soil and local craftsmanship.
Customers often describe Phubia coffee as smooth but bold, with a natural sweetness that reflects the high elevation where the beans are grown. Many say it carries the taste of mountains — fresh, earthy, and alive. During the giveaway, Mrs Sunatta hopes not only to offer free coffee, but to inspire pride and ambition.
“When people drink this coffee, I want them to feel proud,” she says. “Proud that something grown by Lao farmers and created through Lao creativity can stand confidently in the market. This is more than business — it is culture, future, and identity.”
She also hopes to motivate young entrepreneurs, especially women, to believe in their ideas and contribute to national development.
“I am a small business owner, but every small step matters,” she says with a smile. “If each of us does our part, our nation grows stronger. My contribution may be coffee — but it carries love for Laos in every drop.” As National Day approaches, anticipation rises — like coffee beans roasting, releasing fragrance into the air. Soon, 1,999 cups will be handed out freely, each carrying a story of land, labour, dedication, and hope. Phubia Coffee invites everyone to raise their cup to Laos — to its past, its people, and its promising future.
