Lao lady wins award at World Madam contest
A Lao lady has received an award at the World Madam 2025 contest, becoming the first Lao lady to win a title at the competition, which took place in China from November 27-29.
She was named the World Madam 2025 Asia overall champion, a title given to participants who demonstrate leadership, knowledge, social awareness, and the ability to represent their country on the international stage.

The Lao awardee was Madam Adena Mahavong, who received a Certificate of Honour congratulating her on winning the Asia selection after she took part in the competition alongside contestants from more than 20 countries across Asia and other regions.
This year’s event was organised under the theme “One small step for Madams, One giant leap for the World”.
The World Madam competition is held annually to promote the role of women who demonstrate ethical values, confidence, and a commitment to social contribution.
Madam Adena said that unlike conventional beauty contests, the event places an emphasis on communication skills, leadership potential, and engagement with community and social issues.
The awards reflect not only an individual achievement but also the growing visibility of Lao women in regional and global forums, she added.
Her participation and success are viewed as a positive step in strengthening Laos’ visibility on international platforms that promote women’s leadership and social responsibility.

Madam Adena expressed appreciation to both the public and private sectors for their support throughout the process. In particular, she thanked the Lao Journalists’ Association and the Business Women’s Association for their cooperation and encouragement.
Madam Adena Mahavong has 38 years of experience in business consultancy and media. She is currently the President of MV Lao and provides consultancy services to various associations and private organisations.
She is also an Honorary Adviser to the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is a member of the executive boards of the Lao Business Women’s Association and the Lao Journalists’ Association.
With an academic background in media management, law and organisational management, Madam Adena is known for her leadership, professionalism, and commitment to social and business development.
The World Madam contest is an international women’s platform registered in Canada that promotes women’s leadership, social contributions, and cross-cultural exchange.
According to www.worldmadam.com, the initiative combines cultural, professional and charitable activities to empower women at the global level.
