First winners awarded trophies in junior table tennis tournament

The Lao Table Tennis Federation (LTTF) on Friday presented trophies to the winners of three events contested in the 2026 World Table Tennis Youth Contender, which is underway at the ITECC Mall in Vientiane.
The events comprised the U-17 girls’ singles, U-13 boys’ singles, and U-17 boys’ singles.
Trophies were presented to the winners by Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Mr Kingmano Phommahaxay, in the presence of LTTF President Dr Samlan Phankhavong, federation consultant Ms Sengdeuan Lachanthaboun, senior officials, sponsors, trainers and other players.

At the close of play on Friday, Miku Matsushima (Japan) beat Heo Yerim (Republic of Korea) 3-0 (11-7, 11-8 and 11-6) in the U-17 girls’ singles event.

Lin Ting Xue (Chinese Taipei) beat Lee Seungyoon (Republic of Korea) 3-1 (9-11, 11-5,11-6 and 11-7) in the U-13 boys’ singles event.
Ma Yeongmin (Republic of Korea) beat Cheng Min-Hsiu (Chinese Taipei) 3-1 (4-11, 12-10, 11-7 and 15-13) in the U-17 boys’ singles event.
The 2026 World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender and WTT Feeder tournaments are taking place in Vientiane from July 30 to August 8.
Rising stars from 22 countries including Laos are competing for medals, with a total of 403 competitors, officials and team members involved.
The tournaments comprise singles and mixed doubles in the U-11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 age categories, with 32 medals to be awarded.
