The workshop aimed to enhance the emergency care capabilities of nurses working in hospital emergency rooms. It featured lectures and practical sessions on key competencies for emergency nurses, patient triage, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The emergency nursing lectures were a collaborative effort between Professor Jeongyee Bae, Dean of the College of Nursing at Inje University; Professor Sujung Lee; and Lecturer Thongsana Souvanlasy of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences, UHS.
Lecturer Thongsana, who participated in short-term training for emergency nurses in Korea in September 2024, added value to the workshop by delivering a lecture on CPR.
Additionally, the workshop included an advanced course, enabling participants to practise CPR directly to solidify their skills and maximise the educational outcomes.
Professor Bae, who oversaw the workshop, expressed hope that “this initiative will bring tangible changes to the medical field and contribute to providing better healthcare services for the people of Laos”.
Lecturer Souksavanh Phanpaseuth, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences, said “This workshop will enhance recognition of the role of emergency nurses, bolster their professionalism, and improve healthcare quality in Laos. I look forward to continued collaboration with our partner university, central hospitals, and Inje University.”
Meanwhile, the eighth LAIN-LUPIC workshop took place for approximately 30 nursing faculty members from the UHS on January 20-21.
Held for the eighth time since 2021, this workshop featured on-site lectures and discussions under the theme “Outcome-based Syllabus Design and Teaching Effectiveness”.
Professor Jina Oh, project manager and nursing professor at Inje University, highlighted the importance of well-designed syllabi in improving learning outcomes and education quality.
Further lectures included topics such as “Curriculum Evaluation” by Professor Yunmi Lee and “Faculty Development” by Professor Minhye Kim to enhance the educational capacity of the nursing faculty.
This workshop is seen as a milestone in implementing outcome-based education that meets international standards for nursing education in Laos. It is expected to help nursing faculty develop the skills needed to succeed in the global healthcare environment.
This activity is part of Inje University’s efforts as a selected institution for the Expansion-type “Leading University Project for International Cooperation”, supported by the Korean Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea since 2019.
Inje University is focused on redesigning the nursing curriculum of its partner university in Laos and improving the healthcare environment by strengthening the capacity of nursing personnel. The university is also dedicated to supporting faculty development at Laos’ only four-year nursing school and fostering practical-oriented talent.
Inje University’s international cooperation initiatives are anticipated to further strengthen ties between Korea and Laos in the healthcare sector and significantly contribute to improving global healthcare standards.
