Authorities from Phondou village and Viengthong district in Borikhamxay province, together with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and other entities, on Friday inspect a new irrigation channel built to water crops in Phondou village. Government officials last week gather at the Lao Women’s Union in Vientiane for a press conference on this year’s International Women’s Day, which takes the theme “For all women and girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment”. Activities will be organised to mark the day, including a walk starting at the Patouxay monument on March 1 and a workshop on gender equality on March 5.

The Confucius Institute at the National University of Laos (NUOL) on Sunday welcomes the Party Secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr Chen Gang, during an official visit Laos. During his visit, he witnessed the signing of an agreement on the provision of scholarships for students at the Confucius Institute. Also present on the occasion were the Acting President of the National University of Laos, Assoc. Prof. Dr Dexanourath Seneduangdeth, the Chinese Ambassador to Laos Ms Fang Hong, teachers, and students.

High-ranking officials and business partners on Friday join representatives of KP Company Limited at a gala event to mark the company’s 30th anniversary at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel on Friday. Founded in 1995 by Mr Pasatxay Philaphandeth, KP continues the legacy of his father, Mr Khambay Philaphandeth, who began the family business in 1940. From a small trading enterprise importing high-quality products, KP has grown into a diversified conglomerate. Since 2004, under Mr Khemsath Philaphandeth’s leadership, the company has expanded into 20 enterprises covering automobile sales and services, manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, and general distribution. In 2024, Mr Pasatxay assumed leadership, focusing on sustainable growth and digital transformation. “Our key priorities are integrating AI for business growth and equipping our workforce with essential skills to enhance decision-making and efficiency,” he said. Beyond business, KP remains committed  to social responsibility, supporting education, sports, and disaster relief. “As a Lao business, we  prioritise our people’s needs,” Mr Pasatxay added.
