The event took place at the university to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Mr Souvanthone, who was born on April 13, 1925, and celebrate his success as a writer. A representative from the Global Friends Organisation of the Republic of Korea, Mr Choi Kyou-teak (left), recently donated prosthetic limbs to Ms Bounnaly Sichampa in the Women With Disabilities Association (WWDA) in Laos. Made in Korea, the prostheses, worth US$4,000, have enabled Ms Boumaly to walk and work easily. Mr Choi said his team plans to meet with the maker of the prosthetic legs in Korea soon to arrange for more prostheses to be made for WWDA members next year, as there are at least seven more women in the group who need prosthetic legs. |
