Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Associate Professor Dr Linkham Douangsavanh, and World Bank Country Manager to Laos Mr Alexander Kremer, together with deputy ministers, deputy provincial governors, and officials from various entities on Tuesday gather for the closing meeting of the Poverty Reduction Fund III Additional Financing Project, at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane. The project helped to improve food security and nutrition in 468 villages of 12 districts in the provinces of Phongsaly, Oudomxay, Huaphan and Xieng Khuang from 2021 to 2024. |
Representing the Lao government, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Mrs Suanesavanh Vignaket on Tuesday awards a Class III labour medal to an official at the Vietnamese News office, Mr Pham Van Kien, who has worked in Vientiane since 2008 to publicise Lao news events among members of the Vietnamese community in Laos. |

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Mrs Phonevanh Outhavong (centre) and government officials from relevant agencies on Tuesday attend the Sixth Public Investment Management (PIM) Committee meeting to discuss the progress made in improving the management of public investment and capital expenditure. The meeting discussed the status quo of the PIM Action Plan for 2022-2030. It was reported that while several improvements had been carried out, further measures to visualise concrete outcomes are required within the next monitoring phase. The Committee also reviewed the results of the PIM Intensive Training Programme, which took place from February to May. The training programme, hosted by the Committee and supported by JICA, provided training on improved project formulation and assessment methods, and use of the medium-term public investment plan. |
The National Paralympic Committee of Laos hosts a Para Sports Movement Workshop on June 25-26 to encourage greater involvement by people with disabilities in sport. The workshop was attended by Committee President Ms Khanthaly Siriphongphanh, other government officials, trainers, and people with disabilities from across Vientiane and the provinces of Savannakhet and Luang Prabang. The event was supported by the International Paralympic Committee. The Lao paralympic committee and trainers will select disabled athletes for competition at international para games to be held in the future. --Photo Sports Daily News |
