Ministry partners with CP ALL Laos to raise local products to international standards
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has joined hands with CP ALL Laos to promote Lao products by upgrading them to international standards and widening their market reach through the 7-Eleven convenience store network and beyond.
The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Vientiane on September 2 to launch the Lao Products to International Standards Project.
The agreement was signed by the Department of Medium and Small Enterprise Promotion, represented by Director General Mrs Manyvone Vongsai; the Department of Internal Trade, represented by Director General Mr Santisouk Phounsavath; and CP All Laos Co., Ltd., represented by the Managing Director, Mr Thatree Jirabanjongjit.
The initiative aims to improve the quality and standards of promising Lao products so they can compete in both domestic and international markets.
Products meeting the set criteria will have opportunities for wider distribution, particularly through 7-Eleven, a globally recognised convenience store chain.
Officials say the scheme is expected to generate jobs and income, improve the quality of life of local communities, and enhance the reputation of Lao products in overseas markets.
Mrs Manyvone said her department plays a central role in supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by boosting productivity, developing handicrafts and other products, promoting entrepreneurs and startups, and helping businesses to access funding.
“This collaboration will bring many benefits, including improvements in production efficiency, product development, and market expansion. It will also allow Lao business operators to learn modern techniques and adopt advanced systems that strengthen competitiveness,” she said.

Mr Santisouk stressed the importance of government support in helping local businesses meet international standards.
“This partnership with the private sector is an important bridge connecting Lao products to domestic and foreign markets. It also reflects effective cooperation in implementing the policies of the Party and the State,” he said.
Mr Thatree of CP ALL Laos reaffirmed the company’s commitment to promoting Lao goods by dedicating shelf space in 7-Eleven stores. “We believe this project will not only benefit Lao producers but also give consumers greater access to high-quality local products,” he said.
Currently, 7-Eleven operates 19 branches across the capital Vientiane and the provinces of Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Savannakhet, Champasak, and Khammuan.
Each branch reserves display areas for Lao products, offering local residents and visitors the chance to enjoy locally made goods while supporting the country’s sustainable economic growth.
