The Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, together with members of the Lao Handicraft Association, last week leads Lao artisans taking part in “Lao Handicraft Week” at the World Expo Osaka in Japan. Lao handicraft producers displayed embroidery, cotton, and woven silk products, including some that incorporated the naga motif, which has been recognised by UNESCO as a form of intangible world cultural heritage. The Lao exhibition booths displayed textiles, demonstrated embroidery and silk weaving methods, and explained the silk production process. There were also interactive activities, including question-and-answer games for visitors.
