K-LAB ICT Maker Fair 2025 empowers next generation of Lao Innovators
K-Lab successfully hosted the K-LAB ICT Maker Fair 2025 on December 11–12 at the Faculty of Engineering in Vientiane, providing a dynamic platform for Lao youth to engage with digital technology, innovation, and hands-on learning.
The two-day event featured two flagship activities designed to enhance practical skills and creativity among students. On December 11, a Prototype Competition was held, during which students showcased innovative inventions developed through collaboration with K-Lab.
In addition, a prototype competition was held, providing students with the opportunity to transform their own ideas into practical, real-world products through hands-on fabrication.
Furthermore, a talk concert was organized featuring professors who had completed an expert training program in South Korea in August. The professors shared key insights from their training and led discussions on the future direction of makerspace development in Laos, as well as effective approaches to cultivating innovative and skilled human resources.
This was followed on December 12 by an RC Car Racing Competition, highlighting custom-designed vehicles engineered and built by the participants themselves.

The Maker Fair served as a premier platform to exhibit projects and achievements developed under the K-Lab programme over the past five years, reflecting its continued commitment to empowering students through skills development in technology and innovation. The event emphasised creative problem-solving, technical proficiency, and experiential learning.
A key highlight of the fair was the official presentation of certificates to 300 students who successfully completed K-Lab courses during the past five years, recognising their dedication, perseverance, and academic achievements.
More than a technology showcase, the event stood as a celebration of learning and collaboration, fostering confidence among participants while inspiring the next generation of innovators in Laos.
The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), underscoring strong Korea–Laos cooperation in ICT education and human resource development.
