Experienced runners raise funds for Attapeu, Luang Prabang

From one end of the country to the other, four experienced runners from Laos and abroad will hit the road in the South to North Charity Run from October 7-26.
The run from South to North of Laos is about 1,569 km in length.
The runners will take on this grueling challenge over the course of 16 days.
Perambulating with due pace upon the nation’s highways and byways, they will raise funds for Attapeu provincial Hospital and Lao Friends’ Hospital for Children in Luang Prabang province.

The run will commence on October 7 at Xaysettha park of Samakhixay district, Attapeu province.
Runners will be heading to Paksong district, Champassak province.
The runners will then continue north along the National Route 13.
They aim to reach Vientiane on October 15.
The aim is to be in Luang Prabang province on October 19 to join the annual Luang Praabang International Half Marathon on October 21.
The team will then continue their journey to Phongsaly province and end their long journey on October 26.
In addition to the four main runners, there are also support runners who will be joining the run as the team passes each milestone along the 1,569km route.
The South to North Charity Run’s goal seeks to raise funds of more than US$5.000.
The competition organising committee of South to North Charity Run held a press conference at Suntara Restaurant in Vientiane on Wednesday to report on the charity run’s preparations for next month.
All the funds raised in the charity run will go to help the provincial hospital in Attapeu province and Lao Friends’ Hospital for Children in Luang Prabang province.
The funds will provide better healthcare to Lao children and help reduce the country’s still-high child mortality rate.
Specifically, it will go to cover the cost of medical equipment including Ultrasound Machines, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Machine (CPAP), Heart pumps, Syringe Patient Monitors and other essential life-saving equipment.
Running via many a province, participants and sponsors will be able to raise the profile of the charity partners, Attapeu’s provincial Hospital and Lao Friend Hospital for Children in Luang Prabang province.
Last year, the runners took to the road from Vientiane to Luang Prabang province for Lao Friends’ Hospital for Children.
