Kettiya taking on badminton’s best at Buenos Aires’ Youth Olympics

Talented young local badminton player, Mr Kettiya Keoxay is currently competing at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympics in Argentina from October 6-18.
His attendance at the event is a major achievement for the sport locally and the Lao Badminton Federation is supporting Kettiya who was able to pass the previous qualifying rounds. 
Kettiya has been competing in the badminton singles event from Sunday and is drawn in Group C. His opponents include a player from Iceland, who is third-ranked in the badminton event and fifth-placed at World Youth level along with others from El Salvador and host Argentina.
There are eight groups in the badminton event and Kettiya is quietly confident of progressing to the competition’s second round.
The Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympics features 241 events in 32 sports.
In other badminton news, the Lao Federation will prepare the best young players to compete at the Asean University Games to be hosted by Myanmar from December 7-20.
The Lao male badminton student team won a bronze medal at the 10th Asean Schools Games in Malaysia in July.
