Full emergency at Delhi airport after bomb threat for Darbhanga-Delhi flight

NEW DELHI (The Statesman/ANN) -- A full emergency was declared at Delhi airport after a Spicejet flight from Darbhanga to Delhi recieved a bomb threat. However, the plane landed safely and authorities searched the aircraft thoroughly but nothing suspicious was found.
According to the airline, it recieved a call at its reservation office about a bomb in the flight SG 8496 which took off from Darbhanga.
Following the threat call, airport authorities were informed and the aircraft was taken to an isolated bay for search operation.
“On 24th January, a call was received at the SpiceJet reservation office about a bomb in the aircraft operating flight SG 8496 from Darbhanga to Delhi. The flight landed safely at Delhi airport at 6 pm and the aircraft was moved to an isolated bay,” SpiceJet said in a statement.
“Passengers have been deplaned safely and the aircraft is undergoing a thorough search by security agencies,” the airline added.
Spicejet had recieved a similar bomb threat for its Pune-Delhi flight in January last year as well. However, the bomb threat later turned out to be a hoax.
SpiceJet spokesperson said that the flight had not taken off when the call was received and the aircraft was moved to the isolation bay.
“On January 12, a call was received at the SpiceJet reservation office of a bomb in the aircraft scheduled to operate flight SG 8938 (Delhi-Pune). The boarding for the flight had not yet started. The aircraft was moved to an isolation bay,” the spokesperson said adding that on thorough inspection, the security officials did not find anything suspicious there.
