ASEAN journalists explore US-ASEAN economic relations
Seattle, Washington State, USA: Journalists from ASEAN member states are taking part in the 2024 US-ASEAN Reporters Tour to Seattle in Washington State and Washington D.C. to explore US-ASEAN economic relations.
The tour, which is taking place from October 26 to November 7, brings together journalists and reporters from leading media outlets in various countries in ASEAN to meet with government officials, academics, industry groups and business leaders in the United States of America.
In addition, the journalists will have the opportunity to cover the US Presidential Election next week, visiting polling stations as well as the election night watch party.
The tour participants are also exploring museums and experiencing the nightlife of the Seattle metropolis, and meeting with officials at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. where discussions are arranged.
The 2024 US-ASEAN Reporters Tour is the second annual US-ASEAN tour to the United States, aimed at promoting the strong economic relationship between the United States and ASEAN through collective identity among regional journalists from each of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
This highlights the positive economic relationship between the United States and ASEAN, with a secondary focus on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and the digital economy, as well as how the public and private sectors of the United States work with and support ASEAN and its member states.
The US Mission to ASEAN, under the US Department of State, is funding the tour of ASEAN journalists, with the East-West Centre as the implementing partner.
