Short movie contest

The Japan Foundation Asia Centre invites Lao nationals to enter the 24th DigiCon6 Asia Awards – Asia’s Supreme Short Movie Contest in Japan. The purpose is to seek and award talented short film and animation creators from Asian countries and regions. The winner of the Silver Award will receive 3 million kip and the winner of the Next Generation Award will be given 1.5 million kip. 
When: Submission period is from April 28 to August 15.

Logo design contest

The Governments of Asean Member States and Japan will celebrate the 50th Year of Asean-Japan Friendship and Cooperation with various commemorative events and exchange programs in 2023 and also encourage their citizens to join the celebration of this milestone. For this purpose, the Governments of Asean Member States and Japan, in collaboration with the Asean Secretariat and the Asean-Japan Centre, publicly invite ideas from their citizens for a logo design and a catchphrase which reflect the 50 years of friendship and cooperation

Vat Sisaket Museum

Vat Sisaket Museum in Vientiane is famous for its cloister wall housing thousands of tiny Buddha images and rows of hundreds of seated Buddhas. These images mainly date from the 16th and 19th centuries and come in all sizes and are made from wood, stone and bronze.
When: Open daily from 8am-4pm

Free Japanese language course

The Tetchan-Net Training Centre is offering a free course in basic Japanese language.
When: Apply by June 4.

Scholarships for study in India

The Embassy of India is offering scholarships for Lao nationals to take undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Indian universities (except medical/paramedic/nursing/physiotherapy/anesthesia, etc./fashion courses) in the academic year 2022-23. Applicants must have a good knowledge of English.
When: Applications accepted until May 31

Move Together for Autism Awareness & Acceptance

The Lao Association for Autism is excited to announce the “Move Together for Autism Awareness & Acceptance” event. This is a 40-day virtual run/walk/bike community challenge.
We would love to see people from all around the world joining us to generate more publicity about autism and Laos.
Registration is 150,000LAK with running T-shirt, or 250,000LAK with bike jersey (plus delivery fee if outside Vientiane), or register for free if you just want to contribute your distance.
Where: Participants can run/walk/bike anywhere. Record your distances (using a fitness watch or Strava or Runkeeper app on mobile phone) and submit to the event page. Our goal is to reach a community total of 400,000km.

Hor Phakeo Museum 

This ancient temple was first built in 1565 during the reign of King Saysethathirath to house the Emerald Buddha and was the king’s personal place of worship.
When: Open daily 8am-12noon; 1pm-4pm
Where: Setthathirath Road, Chanthabouly district, Vientiane

National Museum

The Royal Palace Museum in Luang Prabang (also known as Haw Kham or Golden Hall) was once Laos’ Royal Palace and houses a lot of interesting historical items. Built in 1904, it features a blend of Lao and French styles.
When: The museum is open daily from 8-11:30am and 1-3.30pm.
Where: Located in the centre of Luang Prabang, opposite Mount Phousi.


Lancang-Mekong international food exposition

Everyone is invited to this expo featuring a variety of food from many different countries. The event will also include demonstrations of silk production and other handicrafts.
When: June 11-19
Where: Lao ITECC exhibition hall

Children’s carnival

Come along to this event featuring Lao and international products including food and beverages. Children can enjoy a magic show, a children’s fashion show, and cosplay dressing.
When: From now until June 5.
Where: Lao ITECC exhibition hall.

Music Day

The French Institute invites bands who want to perform live to enter this competition with the winner to perform at a concert on June 21.
When: Apply by May 31.

K-Pop contest

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea invites young people who love singing and dancing Korean style to enter this competition. The winner will have the chance to enter an international contest.

MANGA competition

The 16th International MANGA Award Executive Committee decided to launch the 16th Japan International MANGA Award to spread MANGA culture overseas and promote international cultural exchanges through MANGA. This competition is looking forward to receiving entries from MANGA artists worldwide.
