Laos, Cuba strengthen cooperation in education, health and agriculture
Laos and Cuba have signed four memorandums of understanding to step up cooperation in education, health and agriculture.
The signing ceremony, held in Vientiane on Sunday, was witnessed by the Lao Prime Minister, Mr Phankham Viphavanh, and his visiting Cuban counterpart, Mr Manuel Marrero Cruz.
The four MOUs covered cooperation in education and scientific research during 2022-2027, agriculture cooperation, health cooperation, and cooperation in education between the National University of Laos and the University of Havana.
Mr Cruz is paying an official visit to Laos during October 2-4 at the invitation of Mr Phankham to further strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the two Parties and governments, and the people of Laos and Cuba.
This is Mr Cruz’s first visit to a country outside Latin America since he took office in December 2019, and also his first visit to Laos.
During bilateral talks, the two Prime Ministers said they highly valued the longstanding collaboration between the two countries.
Laos and Cuba established diplomatic relations in 1974, and since then bilateral cooperation has continued to deepen for the benefit of both countries.
