Huawei promotes digital transformation at Lao Digital Week 2022

Huawei Lao is focused on helping Laos to achieve digital economic transformation through the promotion of technological advancements and participation in the country’s digital vision.
Huawei has a presence at the Lao Digital Week 2022, the theme for which is “Collaboration across Lao Digital Transformation”. Huawei Technologies (Lao) Sole Co Ltd, one of the leading technology companies in the country, has set up a booth at the event being held at the Lao National Convention Centre in Vientiane during December 21-25 to promote telecommunications related to the digital economy development plan.

The booth has information on the company’s activities and projects in Laos, its cooperation with the government and other partners to support and install information and communications technology (ICT) systems, the capacity building of employees, and technology development. 
Huawei’s technology solutions, such as 5G and smart cities, are in line with the digital transformation vision of Laos and will support the nation to build a complete digital transformation ecosystem.
The company will continue to provide the best products and solutions for Laos’ digital economy, help realise the vision of a digital nation, and contribute to transforming Laos from a landlocked country to a land-linked one.
From Southeast Asia’s first smart potash mine in Khammuan province of Laos to the safer and efficient smart port at Tianjin in China, Huawei now has operations across the world.
The Asia-Potash International Investment is one of the largest potassium fertiliser producers in Asia, with one million tonnes of output expected in 2022. By using Huawei’s Smart Mining Solution, it is Asia-Potash’s first smart mine in Southeast Asia.
Tianjin port is one of China’s most technologically advanced facilities and a vital hub for the One Belt One Road initiative.
Various countries around the world are currently developing and using modern technologies or digital technology for socio-economic development in order to ensure efficient, transparent and faster administration, management and delivery of government services and to meet the people’s requirements, the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, Dr Phankham Viphavanh, said at the event.
The government is developing the digital technology system to tackle problems in collecting revenues and to meet the targets of the National Economic Development Plan. It will also try to use digital technology in every area for socio-economic development, he stressed.
The digital transformation of Laos is focused on transforming administration by the government into a digital system, and creating a digital economy and digital society.   
The government has formulated its digital economic development vision for 20 years (2021-2040), its digital economic development strategy for 10 years (2021-2030) and digital development plan for five years (2021-2025), he added. 
He called on all government organisations and the private sector to jointly implement and expand the plan, strategy and vision to achieve targets.
He also congratulated the government, especially the Ministry of Technology and Communications, its partners and IT companies in Laos, for providing support and cooperation for the Lao Digital Week.
The first digital week in Laos is being held by the Ministry of Technology and Communications in partnership with government organisations and the private sector, the Minister of Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr Boviengkham Vongdara, said.
The Lao Digital Week 2022 aims to promote and develop innovative digital technologies, ICT and telecommunications in all sectors from the central to local level, and to promote the digitalisation of the production process and services to enable the country to compete in domestic and international markets and to accelerate digital transformation.
The event will be a platform and opportunity for the public and private sectors to engage in discussions related to implications of digital technology advancement, collaboration, and future investment opportunities.
The event includes exhibitions, fairs, forums and seminars. The participants will join activities to learn various skills in entrepreneurship and to create a startup network with more than 20 startups and ecosystem builders.
