Lao Brewery Company awards scholarships to students nationwide

The Lao Brewery Company continues to provide scholarships to college and university students in seven educational institutions in Laos under its Beerlao scholarship programme.

On February 14, the company awarded scholarships to students at the National Institute of Fine Arts, which were presented by Mr Sitthixay Kettavong, the Director of CA and Administration Deparment at Lao Brewery Company Ltd. The ceremony was attended by teachers and students of the institute.

The Beerlao scholarship programme 2022 is a project initiated following an agreement of the management of the Lao Brewery Company. The move reflects the company’s intention to always support education and human resource development in Laos, enabling poor but outstanding students to pursue their educational dreams and to use their knowledge to develop Laos.

The Beerlao scholarship programme has been implemented since 2010, with the focus on helping students from low-income families. More than 3,500 scholarships worth more than 10.5 billion kip have been awarded to students across Laos over the past 13 years.

Under the Beerlao scholarship programme, the company provides the tuition fee and a monthly allowance to outstanding students from across the country who lack the funding to pursue their educational goals. The monthly allowance is provided until the graduation of the recipients of the scholarship.

Seven universities and colleges taking part in the Beerlao scholarship programme since 2010 include National University of Laos, Souphanouvong University, Champassak University, Savannakhet University, Pakse Teacher’s College, Savannakhet Teacher Training College and National Institute of Fine Arts.

For 2022, a total of 220 scholarships worth 1.5 billion kip were granted to students at these educational institutions.

This year was special because the Lao Brewery Company selected 30 of the total scholarship recipients to work as volunteers. These volunteers will contribute to various social programmes, including a responsible drinking project, road safety and environmental protection.

In addition, the 30 selected students will be allowed to participate in an exchange programme at the Lao Brewery Company to learn about the production process.

Importantly, the selected students will participate in a three-day camping event that will allow students and executives of Lao Brewery Company to exchange knowledge and experiences.
