The government and the Laos-China Railway Company have launched the first train (named Lane Xang) from Vientiane to Kunming in China with the main aim of improving transport links and promoting tourism. The launch of the cross-border service in Vientiane was attended by Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Suanesavanh Vignaket, deputy ministers and other guests.
