Ministry congratulates International School of Laos on successes in USA, Thailand and Cambodia

The Ministry of Education and Sports welcomed the International School of Laos once again to offer their appreciation to the ISL Admin Team, especially to the students, for bringing pride to Laos for winning several international Olympiads and competitions in Natural Sciences, Physics, Astronomy, Technology, Programming and Design.
Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Dr Sisouk Vongvichith, together with the Director General of the Department of General Education, Mrs Khampaseuth Kitignavong, and Director General of the Department of Personnel, Mrs Viengkeo Phommavong, warmly greeted the ISL Team in their kind office.

Dr Sisouk delivered a heartfelt speech thanking ISL and its students for again raising Laos’ profile on the international stage.
“A sincere thank you to the International School of Laos, especially to the students for their continuous efforts in participating in competitions abroad. I want you to know that apart from bringing honour to yourselves by achieving these awards, we recognise your success as a tribute to our country Laos. We praise ISL for continuously pushing students to work and study harder towards achieving greater heights. Please continue this mission consistent with the younger generations of ISL students,” Dr Sisouk said.
The International School of Laos received awards at the recently concluded Copernicus International Olympiad in Houston, Texas, USA.
The ISL Nongbone Campus and Pakxe Campus brought home 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal from the Copernicus Natural Sciences, Physics and Astronomy Olympiads.
A group of ISL students also took part in STEM, Technology, Programming and Design competitions in Cambodia and Thailand.
Entrusted by the Ministry of Education and Sports to represent Laos, the ISL Team was named 2nd Runner-Up in the Asean-India Grassroots Innovation Forum 2022 Student Innovation Competition in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in which more than 3,000 participants demonstrated about 100 technological innovations.
In this competition, the ISL Team presented three technology prototypes and a mobile application. Innovations were programmed and designed with a view to generating modern and sustainable solutions in the fields of education, agriculture and pollution.
Most recently, the ISL Team was hailed as one of the winners of the STEM Project Award in the Southeast Asian STEM Education Fair and Exposition in Bangkok, Thailand, in the categories of Industry Problems & Challenges and Community & School Development.
School Principal Mr Ulvi Shirinov said. “As we continuously strive to equip our students for the future, we would like to thank our teachers who constantly prepare and guide our students, as well as the diligent work and dedication of the students, which resulted in these accomplishments. We sincerely appreciate the Ministry of Education and Sports’ appreciation and messages of encouragement to our students. ISL will continue participating in more of these international competitions and our mission to contribute more to the Lao education system.”
