Phu Bia Mining recognises long-serving employees

Phu Bia Mining (PBM), a leading mining company in Laos, earlier this month held its eighth annual Long Service Awards to recognise the contributions of 433 of its long-serving employees.
The awards celebrate 235 and 198 employees who have achieved 10 and 15 years of continuous service with the Company. This year marks another milestone with the largest number of employees working for 15 years with the Company.
Phu Bia Mining Chairman, Mr Chanpheng Bounnaphol spoke about the significance of the recognition programme, acknowledging employees who embrace the company’s vision and values and who go ‘above and beyond’ in their day-to-day efforts.
“Our employees are at the heart of what we do, who we are and how well we achieve our outcomes. At PBM, we are committed to enabling our people to build a rich and rewarding career with us,” said Mr Bounnaphol.
On behalf of the company’s management team, Mr Bounnaphol offered his congratulations to the long-serving employees.
“Congratulations to the employees recognised with a long service award. Thank you for your contributions to PBM and for making our workplaces safe and great places to work.”

PBM is proud of its localisation legacy and has an annual goal to maintain above 90 percent localisation - achieving 93 percent and 92 percent in 2020 and in 2021.
“PBM is committed to investing in our people and we strive to offer a safe, supportive, and diverse work environment. Through our talent pipeline and aligned with our localisation goals, we offer Lao employees competitive remuneration packages, a range of professional development opportunities to increase their knowledge and skills and progress their careers,” Mr Bounnaphol said.
Senior Purchasing and Contracts Officer Nout Chanmany, from Ban Nam Gnone village in Anouvong district, Xaysomboun province has made her place with PBM as one of its long-serving employees.
“In January 2005, I commenced with PBM assisting in the kitchen and undertaking office cleaning and housekeeping activities. Over the years, I’ve progressed my career thanks to PBM’s in-house professional development and training programmes. A personal milestone was when I completed the PBM-offered English for beginners’ course, which enabled me to progress in my career. I am thankful to PBM for the many opportunities to learn and develop,” said Chanmany.
Since starting operations, 1,196 and 259 employees have been employed with PBM over 10 and 15 years respectively.
