Govt allows entry of travellers to Laos without Covid-19 ATK test
The government has announced that those who depart or enter Laos are not required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and undergo the Covid-19 ATK test 48 hours ahead of their entry.
The noticification issued on December 23 is aimed at facilitating local residents and foreigners who want to depart from Laos or enter the country.
The issuing of the notification was attributed to many reasons, such as the unfolding situation of Covid-19 in Laos and neighbouring countries, as well as globally.
The government had on May 9 announced the reopening of all international border crossings and enabling Lao and foreign nationals, as well as stateless people, to enter and exit Laos freely following a temporary lockdown of the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Citizens of countries that have signed a bilateral or unilateral visa waiver agreement with Laos can enter without applying for a visa.
However, the citizens of countries that have not signed visa waiver agreements with Laos still have to apply for a visa at Lao embassies or consulates in foreign countries.
Visitors can also apply for a visa online or on arrival at border crossings where such a service is available.
As of December 26, a total of 217,658 infections, including three new Covid-19 cases, have been reported across the country and there have been 670 Covid-19-related deaths.
