Phu Bia Mining hosts Lao government officials’ study tour
Over 50 teachers and trainers from the Xaysomboun Provincial Academy of Politics and Public Administration learnt about Phu Bia Mining’s business activities and initiatives such as production, international best practice, health, safety and other topics during a visit to the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation.

The half-day visit, which was hosted by Phu Bia Mining, allowed the visitors to learn about the site through presentations given by the hosts, question-and-answer sessions with Lao employees, and a tour of the Company’s operations.
Through the presentations, government representatives learned more about Phu Bia Mining’s business activities and initiatives including production, international best practice, health and safety, community development, personnel training and development, and environmental management programmes.
The Company’s financial contributions to the Government of Laos were highlighted along with its pipeline of projects aimed at extending Phu Bia Mining’s presence in Laos beyond 2025.
The visitors also toured the computerised mine control room, processing plant, open pit, mining go-line, and the tailing storage facility.
On behalf of PanAust, Phu Bia Mining’s parent company, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Daling Zheng, spoke of PanAust’s values of sustainability, including openness and knowledge sharing.
Mr Zheng said “We are pleased to welcome Government representatives to our world class Operation, where they can see first-hand how we maintain operational excellence.”
Phu Bia Mining Chairman, Mr Chanpheng Bounnaphol, added “The Company is committed to enabling people from other industries and sectors to build a comprehensive understanding of sustainable mining practices.”
