Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam highlighted this aspect of his country’s assistance to Laos during talks with the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mrs Baykham Khattiya.
The Ambassador pledged to provide more support for worker training through enhanced cooperation between the Lao and Vietnamese governments, which would also advance the special relationship between the two countries.
Mrs Baykham congratulated Mr Nguyen Minh Tam on his appointment as the Ambassador of Vietnam to Laos, seeing it as a reflection of the trust and confidence placed in him by the Party, government and people of Vietnam.
The appointment is also a testament to Mr Tam’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, states and peoples of Laos and Vietnam, she added.
She expressed confidence that Mr Nguyen Minh Tam, through his years of experience and breadth of knowledge, would successfully fulfill his diplomatic duties in Laos.
The Lao minister praised the significant, historical, and all-encompassing achievements of the Vietnamese people, under the clear-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, saying this has resulted in political stability, societal order, continuous economic growth, and improved livelihoods.
Many Vietnam-supported labour projects have been implemented in Laos, aiming to upgrade professional competence and capacity to internationally recognised standards
Lao-Vietnamese cooperation has played an important role in the sustainable development of the labour sector and made a positive contribution to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world in general, according to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.
The governments of Laos and Vietnam aim to strengthen collaboration in education, training and human resources development, while closely supervising and pushing forward the execution of high-level agreements and cooperation programmes.
In recent years, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare has worked to raise vocational skill levels across Laos through professional training courses, as well as encouraging more diligence among trainees so they carry out their duties conscientiously.
