TRAVEX trade show opens in Malaysia
Malaysia has launched the TRAVEX trade fair, which is taking place at the Persada Johor Convention Centre from January 15-20.
TRAVEX was officially opened by Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
The Minister said “It is heartening to witness such an overwhelming response to TRAVEX, with a total of 221 sellers showcasing the best of ASEAN tourism, 323 buyers from 42 countries, and 100 international media representatives from 35 countries participating in this event.”
“This reflects the growing confidence in ASEAN’s tourism industry and the immense potential for partnerships, creating countless opportunities for collaboration and fostering a shared vision for the future of tourism in our region.”
The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is an annual event that showcases Southeast Asia as a unified travel destination. It brings together ministers of tourism, government representatives, corporations, and media from the 10 ASEAN nations.
The ATF includes meetings, the TRAVEX trade show, and various conferences, focusing on themes like sustainable tourism and digital transformation.
With the theme of “ Unity in Motion: Shaping Asean’s Tourism Tomorrow”,ATF 2025 is committed to building an ASEAN tourism industry that is robust and sustainable.
The forum seeks to overcome current obstacles and clear the path for a prosperous future by utilising the combined abilities and common goals of its member states.
Director of the Marketing Division of the ministry’s Tourism Marketing Promotion Department, Mr Kettasone Sundara, said “This exhibition is an advertisement to encourage tourism within ASEAN to return to a vibrant atmosphere, as well as an opportunity for tourism service providers, travel agencies, hotels, and airlines to meet and discuss and move forward with joint tourism sales. This is aimed at making the ASEAN and international tourism markets more vibrant.”
Fifteen tourism service companies and five media personnel from Laos are attending theASEAN Tourism Forum.
After the event, Lao participants will have the opportunity to experience the culture, traditions and tourism services in important tourist destinations in Malaysia, such as Penang, Selangor, Sarawak, Sabah and Langkawi.
