Lao football body summarises success in 2024, plans for 2025

The Lao Football Federation (LFF) convened a meeting on Saturday to review nationwide developments in the sport over 2024 and outline plans for 2025.

The meeting was led by the federation’s President, Mr Viphet Sihachakr, and attended by members of football federations from the 17 provinces and Vientiane, other LFF members, and officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Attendees shared their thoughts on the development of football this year.
Mr Viphet said the meeting was a useful forum to bolster cooperation between the LFF and provincial football federations in organising competitions.
These are organised at the lower and secondary levels through to Lao League 2.
The federation is seeking to involve more young people in football at the beginner level, through schools, and training programmes for girls, as well as improve the capacity of trainers.
The meeting presented the football competition plans for 2025 and 2026 and the LFF’s development plan for 2025.
In 2024, the Lao Futsal League took place from March 2 to June 2, the U-16 tournament from June 1 to July 28, the U-19 football tournament from June 22 to August 25, and the Lao Women’s League from June 15 to September 7, while Lao League 1 matches began on September 14.

Lao League 2 and lower and secondary school competitions kicked off in October.
This year, the Prime Minister’s Cup tournament takes place from January 25 to March 8, followed by numerous other competitions throughout the year.
