Phu Bia Mining celebrates remarkable growth and achievements in 2024

Over the past 12 months, Phu Bia Mining (PBM) – a leading mining company in Laos - marked many significant operational achievements and strategic initiatives that advanced multiple development projects at the Company’s Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operations.

Guangdong Rising Holding Group Chairman, Mr Lv Yongzhong.

The Company, a key part of PanAust, a wholly owned subsidiary of Guangdong Rising Holding Group (GDRH), continued its strong production numbers resulting in surpassing budget expectations for the year.
The Phu Kham Operation produced 36,290 tonnes of copper concentrate, 45,740 ounces of gold and 225,469 ounces of silver. Production at Ban Houayxai also achieved 76,827 ounces of gold and 663,447 ounces of silver. The Company is rightfully proud to report its exceptional safety performance in 2024 with the lowest total recordable injury frequency rate since we began in January 2008.
PBM and the government of Laos completed a new partnership agreement to sign the fourth amendment to the Mineral Exploration and Production Agreement (MEPA).
The fourth amendment of MEPA was agreed to increase the Company’s annual sustainable livelihoods and community development programme budget from US$380,000 to US$750,000. The fund will deliver more projects related to infrastructure, health, education, agricultural development, small business development and microfinance in Xaysomboun province.
2024 also provided the opportunity to draw a new strategic initiative through the implementation of GDRH’s Focus, Actions, Innovation, Technology and Human-Oriented (FAITH) business philosophy.
GDRH Chairman, Mr Lv Yongzhong, confirmed the Chinese-state owned enterprise’s ongoing investment and opportunities in Laos will continue to create positive benefits and contributions to the government and people of Laos.

The Company also retained a ‘Best Tax Paying Business’ Award from the Ministry of Finance for the third consecutive year.
PBM was awarded ‘A’ for regular and on-time payment of taxes, continuing to provide an annual review and sustainability report, passing government audits with no outstanding debt balances, and having zero penalties for delaying payments of any taxes.
The year also advanced significant development projects at the Company’s Operations. The Phu Kham existing mine pit is well positioned to further extend its mine life, while the Company continues to review the resulting drill data. The Ban Houayxai Extension project as well as the underground potential give confidence that will be able to extend the existing mine life to another decade.
PanAust Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Daling Zheng, spoke about 2025 as an exciting year ahead.
Mr Zheng said “2024 brought new opportunities for Phu Bia Mining to work with the government of Laos on significant development projects that have resulted in a further extension of the current mine life at both Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai.”
“Our shareholder, Guangdong Rising Holding Group, has confidence that we can achieve all of our goals for 2025 because we adhere to the principles of FAITH through our leadership excellence; our organisational capability and design; our ability to innovate, our dedication to diversity, inclusion and belonging; and critically, by our ability to attract and retain exceptional talent.”
Phu Bia Mining Chairman Mr Chanpheng Bounnaphol added “I would also like to thank our people who go ‘above and beyond’ who have built, operated and maintained our world-class operations in Laos. In 2025 we look forward to a year of success and prosperity for our shareholder, the Government of Laos and local communities.”
