Reporters tour the Phu Kham Operation.

Media personnel tour Phu Bia Mining’s world class Operations

Phu Bia Mining (PBM) from February 12-14 welcomed 10 Lao media personnel from the Pathetlao, Socio-Economic, Vientiane Mai, Vientiane Times and Pasaxon newspapers, the Lao News Agency, Lao National Television, and Lao National Radio to PBM’s Operations in Xaysomboun province.
At the Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation, the visitors toured the process plant, the pit, underground and the Ban Houayxai Extension Project.
The visit enabled the group to see the Company’s operational excellence, including the use and management of cyanide in the Ban Houayxai’s production circuit and the projects PBM is working on to extend the life of the mine to 2035.

During their visit to the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, reporters were able to learn more about Phu Bia Mining’s business activities and initiatives including production, international best practice health and safety, community development, human resources training and development, and environmental management programmes.
PBM also highlighted its direct financial contributions to the Government, its substantial indirect economic benefits, and the sustainable livelihood and community development projects it has set up to help the Lao people.
The group also toured the Phu Kham computerised mine control room, process plant, open pit, the tailing storage facility and rehabilitated areas.
PanAust Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Daling Zheng, spoke of business continuity and sustainability programmes.
“We aim to build long-term growth in Laos and to continue to work closely with the media to achieve positive outcomes for Lao business continuity. These visits are an important way for us to showcase our world class and operational excellence programmes in Laos.”
Phu Bia Mining Chairman Mr Chanpheng Bounnaphol added “For more than a decade, PBM has been committed to enabling a comprehensive understanding of sustainable mining practices and sharing our knowledge with the public through our close, positive relations with Lao media personnel. Our visitors were also able to learn about our history, activities and long-term vision for how we continue to contribute to Laos.”
