Lao Telecom to increase investment costs to US$17.29m in 2025
Lao Telecommunication Public Company, a widely known Lao Telecom, plans to invest US$17.29 million in its telecommunications service network in 2025, an increase from the US$15.74 million invested in 2024.

This announcement was made at the companys 2024 annual work summary meeting held on Thursday at its Vientiane headquarters. The meeting was led by Director General of Lao Telecommunication Public Company, Mr Souphol Chanthavixay, with Minister of Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr Boviengkham Vongdara in attendance.
According to Deputy General Director of Lao Telecommunication Public Company, Mr Alounnadeth Barnchit, Lao Telecom aims to both retain current customers and attract new ones in 2025, projecting a total revenue of 2,624.68 billion kip, a 9.26 percent increase compared to 2024. The company estimates a net profit of 612.29 billion kip and anticipates contributing 597.09 billion kip to the government. The US$17.29 million investment will focus on enhancing and expanding mobile and fixed broadband services to improve customer service in terms of quantity and quality, ensure data security, and modernise systems to support social services, aligning with the strategic vision of advancing towards the Lao Digital Life era.
Mr Alounnadeth Barnchit also presented a summary of Lao Telecoms 2024 business performance, highlighting a US$15.74 million investment in expanding the telecommunications network. Lao Telecoms network includes 2G, 3G, 4G, and 4.5G mobile stations nationwide, with 5G available in major cities and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services accessible nationwide.
These factors have enabled Lao Telecom to expand its customer base to over 3.3 million mobile broadband (MBB) and fixed broadband (FBB) subscribers. In 2024, the company generated 2,397.93 billion kip in revenue (excluding taxes) and contributed 549.75 billion kip to the government.
Lao Telecom has also improved regulations and social welfare policies for employees, and contributed over 12 billion kip to Party-State, social, and educational organisations, including providing services for the ASEAN Summit hosted by Laos. Additionally, the company has continued to provide equipment and internet access for distance learning and remote conferences for various Party-State organisations, amounting to billions of kip.
Approximately 265 guests from the headquarters, provincial branches, Lao Mobile Money Sole Company Limited, and TPLUS Digital Sole Company Limited attended the annual meeting.
