Party leaders shape future political, economic strategies

Members of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) on Monday convened to discuss national and Party-related issues that will shape the country’s political, economic, and organisational future.
Presided over by the Party’s Secretary General and state President, Thongloun Sisoulith, the meeting brought together leaders of central and provincial Party organisations for the 11th Extraordinary Session of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The two-day meeting focused on several significant topics, including the need to refine and develop new approaches to strengthen the country’s governance, economy, and Party structure.
A primary objective is to push the momentum of implementing the resolutions of the 11th Party Congress and ensure they take root in real-world governance.
Additionally, discussions centred on laying the groundwork for the upcoming 12th Party Congress, which is scheduled for early 2026, by establishing the necessary conditions and strategic directions.
In his opening address, Secretary General Thongloun stressed the importance of deepening political and organisational reforms to ensure a scientific, efficient, and responsive governance system.
He highlighted the need for a structured approach to political development, aligning with both the special characteristics of the Lao revolution and the evolving global landscape.
Among the key agenda items is a proposed revision of the 2015 Lao Constitution, along with amendments to the Law on Local Government.
The committee also reviewed plans for the development of solar panel infrastructure, aiming to finalise these proposals for approval at the 2nd Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly, set to convene in mid-March.
These legal and infrastructural reforms are expected to play a crucial role in the country’s development strategy.
Beyond domestic matters, the meeting evaluated recent achievements in foreign relations and outlined future cooperation strategies with international partners.
Strengthening diplomatic ties and economic partnerships remains a priority as Laos seeks to enhance its global standing and attract investment.
The session aims to discuss and agree key strategies that will support national progress and set the stage for the next phase of the country’s political and economic transformation.
With major policy decisions on the agenda, this 11th Extraordinary Session of the LPRP Central Committee is expected to provide critical guidance for the nation’s future, reinforcing stability, economic growth, and political reform as Laos moves towards the next chapter in its development.
