Cam On restaurant, which opened its doors in July 2024, was born out of a passion for authentic Vietnamese cooking. The owners have ensured that everything – from the recipes to the ingredients – stays as close as possible to the original. Many ingredients are directly imported from Vietnam, ensuring the flavours remain rich, fresh and true to tradition.
The restaurant’s head chef is Vietnamese, bringing years of experience and a deep understanding of the country’s culinary heritage. The name “Cam On” (Cảm Ơn in Vietnamese) translates to “thank you”, and the founders carefully chose this name to express their gratitude for the rich food culture that shaped their upbringing.
Ketsavanh Vongsay Panyathip, one of the key figures behind the restaurant, said her husband is of Lao-Vietnamese descent, and his family has passed down traditional recipes for generations. Growing up surrounded by the aromas and flavours of Vietnamese cuisine, she developed a deep appreciation for it.
This personal connection inspired her and her husband to open Cam On restaurant, a place where diners can experience the same flavours the couple holds dear.
At Cam On restaurant, the food is not just a meal – it’s an experience. Each dish is carefully prepared using traditional cooking methods, ensuring that every bite reflects the authentic flavours of Vietnam.
Some signature dishes that have won the hearts of diners include Phở Bò (Vietnamese beef noodle soup), a bowl of rich, aromatic broth, simmered for hours to develop its deep umami flavour, paired with tender, high-quality beef that melts in your mouth.
