Grand opening of Latsavong Wanda Vista Hotel

The high-rise Latsavong Wanda Vista Hotel is now open for business and will accommodate guests during the Asean Summit taking place in Vientiane in October.
The grand opening ceremony on Wednesday was attended by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, General Chansamone Chanyalath, said the Latsavong Wanda Vista Hotel is a collaboration between the Lao and Chinese governments and armies and Chinese real estate investors.

Construction began in 2013 but was temporarily suspended for various reasons before the Ministry of National Defence located investors in China to complete construction.
By 2021, thanks to the commitment of the government, the army and all relevant parties, construction of the landmark skyscraper was back on track.
General Chansamone said the hotel would provide jobs for Lao people, attract tourists and spur socio-economic development in Laos. In particular, it will serve delegates attending meetings and events such as the ASEAN Defence Conference and ASEAN Plus, which Laos will host later this year.
Chairman of the Latsavong Development Company, Mr Chen Bin, said the Latsavong Wanda Vista Hotel covers 52,500 square metres, amounting to one third of the total floor space of the Latsavong Plaza.
The hotel has 36 floors, including two underground, and at 138 metres high is the tallest building in Laos.
The hotel has 272 guest rooms, comprising 141 deluxe rooms, 85 executive deluxe rooms, 37 suites, 4 ambassador rooms, and 2 presidential rooms.
The conference centre covers 2,800 square metres and is equipped with advanced simultaneous interpretation equipment, and large LED screens. The state-of-the-art banquet hall covers an area of approximately 800 square metres and can accommodate up to 1,000 guests.
The plaza is located on a 150,000 square metre site in central Vientiane and houses a 34-storey 5-star hotel, an office block, apartments, a healthcare centre and a shopping centre, which is intended to become a national shopping centre in the future.
The main features of the Latsavong Plaza are the shopping centre and the hotel. The building is the tallest in Laos. A contract on the venture was signed in 2013 and construction began at the end of the same year.
