Borikhamxay ramps up wind energy projects with six major developments

Borikhamxay province is ramping up wind energy projects with six major developments moving ahead either operational or in the development plan, according to a report.
The report on wind energy development was presented to Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone last week when he paid a working visit to Xaychamphon district of the central province.
The Prime Minister was welcomed by the Governor of Borikhamxay province, Dr Sonethanou Thammavong.
The first of the wind farms is the 250MW Truong Son Wind Power Project located in Khamkeut and Xaychamphone districts, valued at over US$371 million and having a projected lifespan of 25 years,
The second is the 350MW Truong Son Wind Power Project 2, located in the same area, valued at US$556 million and also with a projected lifespan of 25 years.
Also located in Khamkeut and Xaychamphon districts, the 500MW Phila Wind Power Project is valued at US$1.151 billion and has a projected lifespan of 25 years.
Located in the same districts, the 750MW Kalong Wind Power Project is expected to operate for 25 years and is valued at US$822 million.
In addition, the 750MW Phakhao Wind Power Project in Viengthong district and the 750MW Namtong Wind Power Project in Viengthong and Xaychamphon districts are currently in the contract phase of development.
Elsewhere, two other wind farms in Nakai district, Khammuan province, are also in the contract stage of development, namely the Chalo Wind Power Project and the Light Wind Power Project, each of which will have an installed capacity of 500MW.
Speaking to local residents, the Prime Minister praised the community’s strong cultural values and their achievements in recent years.
He urged local authorities and residents to preserve their revolutionary heritage, promote unity, diligence and patriotism, and to grow more crops and raise more livestock for both subsistence and market purposes.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining village stability, improving living standards, ensuring high standards of health, and of compliance with laws and regulations.
The Prime Minister also encouraged families to ensure their children remained in school for as long as possible.
At the same time, the Prime Minister provided relief supplies to the residents of Sobterng village, including food, clothing, household items, school supplies, and other essentials.
The premier and his delegation also visited a wind power project operated by the Viet-Lao Power Investment and Development Company.
