Myanmar President to pay state visit to Laos

President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Mr Min Aung Hlaing, together with his wife and a high-level delegation, will pay a state visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from July 3-5 at the invitation of President Thongloun Sisoulith.
According to an announcement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is being undertaken to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and Myanmar.
The visit is also expected to further strengthen the long-standing friendship, close neighbourly relations and cooperation between the two countries, making bilateral ties increasingly solid and fruitful.
Laos and Myanmar established diplomatic relations in 1955 and have since maintained friendly relations and cooperation in a range of areas through bilateral, regional and multilateral frameworks.
During his visit, President Min Aung Hlaing is expected to hold talks with Lao leaders and participate in activities marking the milestone anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The State visit reflects the commitment of both nations to further deepen cooperation and promote mutual understanding for the benefit of their peoples.
