Laos, Kazakhstan ink agreement on visa exemptions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government of Kazakhstan have agreed to ease visa requirements for the holders of diplomatic and official passports.
The agreement is aimed at making it easier for diplomats and other government officals to enter and exit each other’s countries.
Under the agreement, citizens of the two countries who hold a diplomatic or  official passport, when entering, passing through, staying in and leaving each other’s territory will be exempt from visas for a maximum of 90 days within 180 days from the date of entry.
The agreement was signed on Thursday between Laos’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Bounleua Phandanouvong and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Laos, Mr Kanat Tumysh.
Laos and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on September 19, 1997, and enjoy good friendship and cooperation. Government leaders have exchanged greetings on important occasions and have supported each other in the international arena.
Although the relationship and cooperation between the two countries is not yet extensive, the newly signed agreement is an important step in enhancing relations between the two countries, especially through reciprocal visits by government delegations at all levels and stepping up cooperation in areas of mutual interest and strength, such as trade, investment and energy.
