LUPIC project completes 9th LAIN-LUPIC workshop

Strengthening education and research capabilities of Lao nursing educators
Inje University (President Minhyon Jeon)’s Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC)’s project team (hereinafter LAIN-LUPIC team) successfully held the 9th LAIN-LUPIC Workshop at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Vientiane, from July 8 to 10, 2025.
Approximately 23 faculty members from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) in Laos, including the Nursing Curriculum Development Committee (NCDC), Nursing Practicum Development Committee (NPDC) and the Junior Leadership Group (LUKI), participated in this workshop. The workshop focused on practical training to simultaneously strengthen nursing instruction and nursing research capabilities.

The project manager and professor of nursing, Prof Jina Oh, delivered a lecture on the concept of Instructional System Design (ISD) and provided feedback on the micro-teaching videos from April. All eight members of the LUKI who participated in the micro-teaching significantly enhanced their autonomy and reflective capabilities as educators by collectively analysing and discussing each other’s lessons.
Participants shared their own feedback, saying: “I was able to reflect on my class from an objective perspective and experts’ review”, and “It was a process of shared growth, not just individual.”
Prof Oh stated: “This micro-teaching-focused workshop isn’t just about delivering teaching methods, it’s a practice-oriented collaborative model where participants design, reflect on and improve their own lessons.”
She announced,“Based on the refined teaching and learning plans, we will proceed with the second micro-teaching video shoot in August.”
Meanwhile, the project researcher, Seohyun Won, spoke on “A case study in nursing class management”, while the project researcher, Eunsil Won, delivered a lecture on the theme “Structure and practice of research design.”
Notably, each session was structured with lectures, worksheet-based practical exercises, participant presentations, and group feedback.
This workshop moved away from one-way, instructor-centred delivery, and instead focused on participant-centred practical work and participatory learning. This approach aimed to organically connect education and research, thereby strengthening faculty capabilities.
Moving forward, Inje University’s LAIN-LUPIC team plans to continuously develop a virtuous cycle of collaboration. This collaborative model will extend to establishing a system for nurturing the next generation of faculty, encompassing the practical field of nursing education and research.
