FINA Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institution Limited (FINA) has officially joined the Lao National Payment Network Company Limited (LAPNet) and launched its Lao Mobile Payment Switching (LMPS) service, marking another step in the company’s efforts to expand digital financial services and provide greater convenience to customers.
The official launch ceremony took place on August 14 at the Petroleum Trading Lao Public Company headquarters in Vientiane, bringing together representatives from the Bank of the Lao PDR, the banking and finance sector, government agencies, private-sector organisations, business partners and other invited guests.

The new service is expected to make digital transactions more convenient, faster and more secure, allowing customers to access payment services more easily in their daily lives and business activities.
According to a report from FINA, the scheme is part of its continued efforts to expand access to digital financial services among retail customers, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs/SMEs), as well as people in communities across the country.
The company also highlighted the importance of transaction security, customer data protection, customer identification and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, risk management, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards as digital financial services continue to develop.

The connection to LAPNet is expected to further strengthen FINA’s ability to provide integrated digital financial services while contributing to the development of Laos’ payment infrastructure.
FINA sees the development as going beyond providing customers with an additional channel for money transfers and payments, saying it will help create wider access to financial services and new opportunities in the digital economy.
The company said its continued development of digital financial services will focus on three main areas: customer convenience, security and compliance, and continuous innovation.
By applying technology to everyday financial services, FINA aims to provide simpler and more convenient experiences for customers while developing products and services that respond to changing customer needs and lifestyles.
Ms Souphaphone Souannavong, Managing Director of FINA Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institution Limited, expressed her appreciation to the Bank of the Lao PDR, LAPNet, management teams, business partners and other stakeholders for their continued support.
She reaffirmed FINA’s commitment to playing a greater role in the development of digital finance in Laos.

“FINA does not aim merely to be a user of the digital financial system. We aspire to be one of the contributors shaping the future of digital finance in Laos — making financial services more accessible, more connected, and creating greater opportunities for the Lao people,” she said.
The launch of Lao Mobile Payment Switching is another milestone in FINA’s development as it continues to expand from traditional financial services towards a more integrated digital financial platform.
As digital payments become increasingly important for individuals and businesses, FINA said it will continue working to improve connectivity, strengthen service standards, and develop financial solutions that support customers in the digital era.
The company’s latest initiative reflects its broader commitment to supporting a modern, interconnected and inclusive digital financial ecosystem in Laos.
